At Stocks Coachworks we have gained an excellent reputation in our repairs and paintwork to fibreglass cars. Over the last 15 years we have specialised in this area, especially in the Lotus marque. We have the experience and ability as we have worked on all models including Elise, Exige, Elan and of course our flagship model, the Esprit. As well as Lotus we have repaired and painted many TVRs and replica vehicles. At Stocks Coachworks we can cater for all your fibreglass body repair needs from accident damage to full paint restorations. We have also repaired and painted many fibreglass body shells. This involves removing all the paint layers and rectifying old repairs and in some cases a new gel coat and then of course a new top coat of a colour of your choice.

Don't Just Take Our Word for it: The Jon Roberts S1 project

In early 2014 we were contacted by Jon Roberts who owned a very beautiful Series 1 Esprit. He had meticulously mechanically rebuilt his car and was now ready to have it painted. After assessing the car and confirming a price Jon booked the car into us for October. Jon decided to strip the car himself and removed all the panels. We collected the car and panels at the agreed date and set to work on it. In December the project was completed and returned to Jon for him to re-assemble. He carefully put his Esprit back together and at this point he also worked on the interior trim.

In May 2015 he took his car to the Lotus Forums International Lotus day at Brooklands where he entered his Series 1 Esprit into the Bell & Colvill concours competition. Jon’s car was the overall winner of the competition.

"They kept me informed along the way with photo updates at every stage and the end result was outstanding. Attention to minute detail like the black trim lines was followed accurately"

"After seeing the quality of their previous work and knowing how important it is to prepare fibreglass cars properly when painting them, I booked my Esprit S1 in for a total respray. Mark and his team took the shell completely back to gelcoat and painted the car in its original colour code orange. They kept me informed along the way with photo updates at every stage and the end result was outstanding. Attention to minute detail like the black trim lines was followed accurately. Very pleased. Thanks guys - to top it all, the car won the Concours trophy at the TheLotusForums annual event this year !!"

We've Only Done it Again: Jonathan Hackford's 1976 Lotus Esprit S1

The Lotus Forums International Lotus Day was held at Brooklands on 8th May 2016. Once again they held the Bell & Colvill Concours d'elegance competition. One of our previous customers, Jonathan Hackford, entered his 1976 Lotus Esprit S1 which we restored for him in 2014. The judges included Mike Kimberley who is Lotus Cars ex CEO. Jonathan’s beautiful S1 won its class of cars aged between 1975-1985. That's two years in a row for Stocks Coachworks. Bring on 2017!

"Mark kept me updated every step of the way with pictures and emails and happily tolerated my obsession with authenticity. I cannot recommend Stocks highly enough - the work Mark and his team did on my car was second to none."

"I had been looking for an original white S1 for a couple of years, when I came across a restoration project advertised at Stocks in May 2014. I went up and bought it on sight and Mark and his team then spent 7 months fully restoring the car back to its original factory spec. Mark kept me updated every step of the way with pictures and emails and happily tolerated my obsession with authenticity. The end result was outstanding, underlined when Mike Kimberley awarded it the Best in Class award at the 2016 Lotus Forums International Lotus Day Concours event at Brooklands. I cannot recommend Stocks highly enough - the work Mark and his team did on my car was second to none."
